Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide general manual labor in support of campus activities.

  • Clean and disinfect assigned areas; Provide support to remove trash and other debris; remove and transfer waste including recycles from area of central aggregation, special events, and special clean-up sites; clean gutters, culverts, and other drainage structures utilizing power washers. Clean campus roadsides, streets, and concrete pathways using appropriate methods.
  • Parking structures: wipe clean sand sanitize elevators, check the areas around elevators on all three levels for trash and debris, and remove and dispose of them. Empty all trashcans located in and around the Parking structures (PKs). Pick up and dispose of any trash found around parking stalls throughout. Sweep/blow and remove the trash, garbage, debris, etc., from each stairwell.
  • Provide manual labor to remove heavy objects including but not limited to furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies. Assist in campus event set-up; load and unload heavy objects: furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials. Use of a motor vehicle to transport and deliver heavy objects.
  • Supports general maintenance operations by performing window cleaning, pressure washing, basic floor care, and other general maintenance tasks. Basic floor care includes sweeping, mopping, spot-cleaning, stripping and waxing as assigned.
  •  Provides support to facilities management staff performing unskilled tasks preparing work areas, performing rough repair work, dismantling structures, patching pavement, and performing pick and shovel work.
  •  Assisting grounds maintenance with general grounds landscaping work, using a spade, hoe, rake or other landscape equipment.
  •  Operate and perform basic preventative maintenance on hand and basic power equipment, tools, supplies and materials.
  • Perform other classification-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; perform regular strenuous manual labor; and safely move heavy items in excess of 50 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits:

 Anticipated Hiring Range: $3, 680.00/mo

Classification Salary Range: $3,680.00 - 5,955.00/mo

The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Full-time/Non-Exempt/Probationary

Campus Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends.

Campus Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.

Academic Work Schedule: Sunday through Thursday (7:00 pm - 3:30 am), some evenings/weekends.

Summer Work Schedule: Sunday through Wednesday (5:00 pm - 3:30 am), some evenings/weekends.

Conditions of Employment

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.  CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Drivers License Check

Possession of a valid Driver's License is required.  Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.

Physical Exam

Employment is contingent upon candidate passing a pre-employment physical exam with the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
